Chinese Wedding Items

Dear All,

Traditional Chinese Wedding Customary is one of the most important practices for most or in fact all Chinese in the world. However, due to the "modern-ization" and "western-ization" of today society, many people ( even elderly ones ) are uncertain of the chinese customary for chinese wedding.

As such, many have a negative feeling towards these customary. Thinking that these wedding customary is complicated !!

Yes, this is very true!! Chinese Wedding Customary is very complicated.... IF you practices the FULL PROCESS OF THE TRADITIONAL WEDDING CUSTOMARY.

In today practices, these wedding customary has changed into a simple and shorten versions to suit our modern lifestyle. However, individual clans or dialect group, still maintain some of it unique practices.Let's take a look at the whole process of the traditional wedding customary :

Procedure : 3 Letters and 6 Rituals or Etiquettes

The Letters

1. Pin Shu ( Request Letter )聘书

2. Li Shu ( Gift Letter ) 礼书

3. Ying Qin Shu ( Wedding Letter ) 迎亲书

The Rituals or Etiquettes

1. Na Cai ( Request for intention of Marriage ) 纳彩

2. Wen Ming ( Request of Name and Birthdate of Bride and Groom ) 问名

3. Na Ji ( Initial Gifts to Bride Family ) 纳吉

4. Na Zheng ( Formal Gifts to Bride Family ) 纳征

5. Qing Qi ( Wedding Date Selection ) 请期

6. Ying Qing ( Actual Wedding Day ) 迎亲
